Erin from what I can see and remember Harper Derangement Syndrome was well earned. I do respect the fact that he kept his wingnuts under tight control. Unfortunately now the wingnuts seem to be in full control of the CPC and it has earned the name Convoy Party of Canada.
Could you be more specific on exactly what it is that you now see and what it is that you remember? Facts are important, not so much opinions, and I'm only interested in the former.
I believe Georgie’s comment may have qualified itself as a prime example of your point. I recall a very different country more comfortable in its own skin than the Canada today and that has way more to do with the wilful blindness caused by divisive social media than anything Mr Harper may have done or not done.
Another problem with social media, especially Twitter not X, is that you can block someone whose opinion you don’t agree with. This blocking feature increases the echo chamber effect and discourages any kind of discussion that might prove useful and informative.
Great article Erin. I believe your comments are well founded in your experience in Parliament (and prior to) over the last number of years. I would agree. I really think the partisan divide has widened in the last 15 years as MPs themselves seem more unlikely to build cross Party relationships. A hybrid Parliament will only make that worse.

And how do you define "wingnut"?
Excellent piece Erin.
